After the Conference - what now??
July 9, 2008 @ 02:22 PM

Your Conference experience should not stop when you leave Mexico! The whole point is to make new connections and start feeling more powerful.

The Conference is only a week long, but can serve as a catalyst to addressing the issue(s) that are important to you. The next step is to put all of the information and knowledge you have gained to use in your own work and community.

Here are some tips for doing just that:

- What did you learn and how will you apply it? Use your experience at the Conference for writing reports, press releases, and even program plans.

- Stay in touch with your international youth contacts. This website is a great way to stay in touch and keep each other motivated and going!

- Consider starting a collaborative follow-up task at the Conference.

- Follow up with your contacts.

- Apply it to your work. Consider how to integrate the research and best practices you learn at the Conference in your own work.

- Take it to your community. There are many ways to share what you learned with others in your community and country. You can generate media attention by writing a letter to the editor or submitting a press release to newspapers, radio stations, and TV stations.

- You can arrange to do presentations for schools, faith-based communities, AIDS service organizations, and youth groups. You can write and distribute a formal report on your experience or post a blog on a website. The possibilities are endless!

So what's your plan for after Mexico?

I've been thinking about giving my friends condoms, actually ive been giving some to my closests, and spreading info cd's i got on the conference, to people that can spread the info in more cyrcles on which i cant get into, like my teachers and that... I had a great experience there on the AIDS 2008, as a volunteer was so great to help, without anything else to expect but the thankfulness of delegates!

Hi, I am Toma from Japan.
One of my aspiring project that I have been wanted is that materials translation into my language (Japanese).

Even though educational materials are helpful for me but not for just-Japanese-speking peer educators/advocates.

Bridging those materials and local youth is very important and that can be applicable to you!

Keep actions and smiling!
