Youth Pavilion
The Youth Pavilion is a youth-focused space for meetings, forums, evening sessions; a space to highlight and showcase youth achievements, to facilitate networking opportunities with youth and adults in dialogue, a youth media hub, a lounge, and continues the momentum from the Youth Pre-Conference. Throughout the conference daily sessions are available within the Youth Pavilion to prepare young delegates to participate in the conference, advocacy planning, and how to record and report back to your community on lessons learned.
The Youth Pavilion will serve as the center for all youth related activities at the conference. One of the central aspects of it will be the commitments desk, where various individuals, groups and organizations will be making a commitment to incorporate youth in their fights against the spread of HIV/AIDS.
The Pavilion will showcase youth work on HIV/AIDS issues and support youth delegates at the conference. Pavilion exhibits will demonstrate that young people - those most affected by the epidemic - are actively working toward solutions. It will also serve as the hub for youth communications and youth media at the conference, where delegates can participate in online discussions, create their own online conference blog, report back about conference activities, and create audiocasts for the website.
Discussion Forums, Skills Building Workshops, art and video will be showcased in the Youth Pavilion and focus on peer-based education, youth-led initiatives, young women and girls; indigenous youth; young gay and bi-sexual men; safer sex, harm reduction and drug use; effective advocacy capacity building; and others will be presented. There will sessions on empowering youth living with HIV/AIDS with skills tailored for positive youth to speak out openly and more effectively in their communities/institutions and ways of acquiring treatment regionally or internationally, and a private space for positive youth to convene.
